When Kenrick confronts Miguel about not practicing safer sex, Miguel questions Kenrick's status as a player. After Kenrick's father pays him a visit and advises, "You are the choices you make, son. The Hear Me Project Story Writing Contest. The HEAR ME contest was launched in 2004 after a spike in HIV rates among youth was reported. The HEAR ME contest motivates young people to think about their personal vulnerability to HIV/AIDS. Since 2004, the number of entries has surpassed 10,000. A survey of this years contest participants demonstrated that 89% are now more aware of their vulnerability to HIV/AIDS, while 88% said they are now more knowledgeable about HIV.
